The Purple Tang is a highly sought-after marine fish known for its vibrant purple body and striking yellow tail. Its bold coloration and energetic personality make it a prized addition to larger reef aquariums. Native to the Red Sea, this species is not only beautiful but also beneficial, as it helps control algae growth within the tank.

  • Maximum Size: Up to 10 inches.
  • Tank Size: 120 gallons minimum; larger tanks are recommended to provide ample swimming space.
  • Diet: Herbivorous; primarily feeds on algae, and should also be offered high-quality vegetable matter, seaweed, and spirulina-based foods to meet its nutritional needs.
  • Water Temp: 75-80°F.
  • Salinity: 1.020-1.025.
