Passer Angelfish (Holacanthus Passer)

The Passer Angelfish, also known as the King Angelfish, is a large and hardy species known for its vibrant blue body and orange-yellow accents. It is a stunning, dominant presence in any large marine aquarium, and requires a lot of space due to its size and territorial nature.

• Tank Size: 180 gallons minimum, with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding.
• Diet: Omnivorous; feed a variety of foods, including marine algae, spirulina, and high-quality meaty foods like mysis shrimp and krill.
• Water Temp: 72-82°F.
• Salinity: 1.020-1.025.
• Aggression: Semi-aggressive; can be territorial, especially as it matures. Best housed with other large, aggressive tankmates.
• Skill Level: Advanced; requires a well-maintained tank and plenty of swimming space.
• Reef Compatibility: With caution; may nip at corals, especially soft corals and clam mantles.

Typical Habitat

• Distribution: Native to the Eastern Pacific, found from the Gulf of California down to Peru, including the Galápagos Islands. It prefers rocky reef areas with plenty of crevices for hiding​
