Product Details

The Lineatus Fairy Wrasse is one of the most strikingly colorful fish in the wrasse family. Known for its vibrant blend of pink, orange, and blue hues, this fish is highly prized among reef aquarium enthusiasts. Males, in particular, display even more brilliant coloration during courtship, making them a stunning addition to any reef tank.

Care Information

  • Maximum Size: Up to 4 inches.
  • Tank Size: 50 gallons minimum, with plenty of open swimming space and hiding places.
  • Diet: Carnivorous; thrives on a diet of high-quality frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. It will also accept small live foods and high-quality pellets.
  • Water Temp: 74-78°F.
  • Salinity: 1.020-1.025.
  • Aggression: Generally peaceful, but males can be territorial, especially if kept with other wrasses. Best kept in pairs or harems, with one male and several females.
  • Skill Level: Intermediate; requires stable water conditions and a peaceful community.
  • Reef Compatibility: Reef-safe; does not harm corals or invertebrates, making it a great addition to reef tanks.

Special Requirement - Secure Lid
Lineatus Fairy Wrasses are known to be jumpers, especially when startled. It is crucial to have a secure, tightly fitted lid on your aquarium to prevent them from jumping out of the tank. Without a lid, these fish are at risk of injury or death due to their active and excitable nature.

Color Variation by Locality

  • Western Pacific (Coral Sea): Specimens from this region exhibit the most vibrant coloration, with males displaying deep shades of pink, orange, and yellow, along with blue markings on the fins.

Typical Habitat

  • Distribution: The Lineatus Fairy Wrasse is found in the Western Pacific, particularly around the Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reef. It inhabits coral-rich areas and is often seen swimming in small groups around reef structures.
