Bright Orange Plate (Fungia Spp.)

Plate Corals are solitary LPS corals with a flat, disc-like structure. They come in a variety of colors and add movement to the tank with their ability to inflate and deflate. They are hardy and suitable for most aquarists.

Care Requirements:

• Lighting: Moderate (PAR: 80–150). Thrives in indirect lighting but can adapt to brighter areas if acclimated slowly.
• Flow: Moderate. Provide gentle flow to prevent detritus buildup without causing the coral to shift position.
• Feeding: Primarily photosynthetic but benefits from occasional target feeding of meaty foods like mysis shrimp or small pieces of fish 1–2 times weekly.
• Propagation: Not typically fragged but can occasionally produce baby corals, known as anthocauli, around its base.

Notes:

• Aggression: Low. Non-aggressive but can compete for space with other corals.
• Placement: Place on the substrate in areas with gentle flow. Avoid sharp rocks that could damage the coral's underside.
• Pests: Susceptible to sand accumulation and algae growth. Regular cleaning is recommended.
