  • Maximum Size: Up to 4 inches.
  • Tank Size: 30 gallons minimum, with at least 3-4 inches of soft substrate for burrowing.
  • Diet: Carnivorous; feed small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood.
  • Water Temp: 74-80°F.
  • Salinity: 1.020-1.025.
  • Aggression: Peaceful, but can be territorial around its burrow. Ideal for a community tank with other peaceful species.
  • Skill Level: Intermediate.
  • Reef Compatibility: Completely reef-safe; will not harm corals or invertebrates.

Typical Habitat

  • Distribution: Found in the Eastern Pacific, particularly around the Gulf of California and the Mexican coast. Prefers sandy areas and rubble zones in shallow reef environments, where it can construct burrows​
